He needs to be "the man". When he is the man and the offense runs through him and he has the ultimate green light, he is deadly on offense as a scorer.
However, NBA teams don't want Jimmer to be the man. They want a role player. And when Jimmer is asked to be a role player, he doesn't thrive in the same way. He shot 41% from the field in the NBA, generated very few assists, didn't rebound, didn't get steals, struggled on defense, and overall didn't create opportunities for others. But more important than that, he wasn't Jimmer. He wasn't lighting the world on fire with this shooting and that's simply because he requires volume and touches to get in the flow, and NBA teams don't want to structure their offenses around him.
This is why guys like Neto are in the NBA. Jimmer is 100x the offensive scorer that Neto is. But his numbers per 36 minutes are lower than Neto's in every other statistical category outside points.
