on kenpom.com measures PPP (points per possession) by a team and by its opposition. PPP has been around a long time. What kenpom contributes that greatly enhances reliability is that his system adjusts PPP for the relative strength of the opponents offense and defense, thereby alleviating SOS unevenness.
As jreid said, BYU offense is 93 while its defense is 39.
Of course, this early in the season those numbers can change considerably over a couple of games, and likely will do so in BYU's case.
OTOH, individual efficiency numbers are problematic because there is currently no reliable system to adjust for SOS for individuals. But team as a whole stuff is solid.
