Yesterday I was at the grocery store. I rounded a corner from an aisle into the area where the checkout counters are. About thirty to forty feet away from me I noticed a middle-aged woman sitting on the floor. She appeared to be in decent physical condition, was dressed like a business woman and didn't immediately exhibit any signs of having any mental issues. I paused for a second to try to figure out if she had fallen and if she was okay. I didn't see it happen, but I quickly came to the conclusion that she had fallen.
I was just deciding to walk quickly toward her and ask if she was okay when she got up and appeared to be fine. I think she saw that I was looking at her. At that point, I made a quick decision between rushing over to ask if she was okay or looking away in an effort to try to spare her further embarrassment. Being an introvert, I went with the look away option.
What would you have done in that situation?
