Except he really did prefer Utah over BYU when he was in HS
I’m close with an athletic trainer for the basketball team who’s close with Yoeli, and he’s expressed that he would have chosen Utah if offered in high school.
Why is that such a shocker/ridiculous thought? He’s a non-lds black kid who grew up in Salt Lake County. Not exactly the type who grows up hoping to play for BYU. That’s also what makes it awesome to watch him flourish here. Im not sure why some fans take it so hard that not all of BYUs players grew up dreaming to play for BYU.
