I'm running some calculations and it looks like I can save a couple hundred

bucks on taxes, but this year only because I just built a house and the first year appraisal is on the unimproved land so I'm not paying $10k in property taxes this year (Texas so no income tax). Next year my interest + property tax will be well above the $24k standard deduction.
