I actually think that '20, '21, and '23 are MORE valuable than '19 to ESPN

'19 is easily the best schedule from a competition standpoint, as Washington and Utah are both coming off division-winning seasons and USC and Boise St. look to be tough opponents. Those are all quality games. However, matchups involving BYU and PAC 12 teams are usually perfect for the 10pm ET (or later) time slot.

Whereas, Big Ten, SEC, and ACC teams in the Eastern and Central time zones are more likely to make sense for ESPN to put on ABC or at least into a more attractive ESPN timeslot than the late night matchups between BYU and PAC opponents. For instance, the past BYU v. Michigan St., Michigan, Nebraska, and Wisconsin games have all been over-the-air broadcasts at 3:30pm ET. BYU v. WVU and Virginia were also in the 3:30pm ET timeslot. BYU v. Georgia Tech kicked off at 7pm ET.

Even games like BYU v. NIU, Houston, Cincinnati, UCF, UConn, and ECU have been in one of the earlier kickoff timeslots (3:30pm ET or 7pm ET).

So, BYU has upcoming schedules from 2020 on give ESPN quality inventory for 3:30pm or 7pm ET kickoff (Michigan St., Missouri, Houston, Virginia, South Florida, Arkansas, Baylor, Tennessee, etc.) at a reasonable price, to offset ESPN's loss of B1G inventory to FOX and ACC inventory to the new ACC network (which starts this year). I note that many of these games are scheduled for October, including '20 Missouri and Houston, '21 Virginia, and '22 Arkansas - when an interesting cross-region matchup could deliver better ratings than regional conference matchups.

BYU will still provide inventory for the late kickoff (Utah, ASU, Arizona, Stanford, Boise, Utah St., Wyoming, SDSU, etc.), to compliment ESPN's PAC and MWC late-night inventory.
