RE: Yes, you guys currently hold the belt (wagon wheel) for better team and will
Your logic is sound but I think if a completely unbiased/knowledgeable football fan looked at the “who’s better” argument between BYU and USU, it might tilt more in USU’s favor than most BYU fans would like to admit. I’m a Weber State Wildcat through and through yet I can’t claim total unbias as I grew up rooting for BYU but went on to have a couple of good childhood friends go on to play for Utah State.

If you look at the tale of the tape, BYU obviously has a MUCH larger legacy and tradition than USU and that has to weigh heavily into the equation. That being said, Utah State looks to currently be the better team. Yes it’s only 2 straight wins but with Jordan Love and most of the team returning, it could easily turn into 3 straight, at which point I think this starts to become a real problem for BYU.

If Gary Andersen can recreate his success in Logan a second time around, there’s some serious factors that play into the Aggies favor. No honor code, easier admittance, conference affiliation which are all things that seem to be heavily discussed for the BYU fan base.

I’m old enough to remember when BYU was the unquestioned big boy of this state and #2 wasn’t even in the same stratosphere. Even if you give the nod to BYU as the better program at this time, I literally NEVER thought I’d see the day where USU was even in this conversation and the argument could at least be made that BYU is teetering on dropping to the 3rd best program in the state. In the late 1980’s, the current situation seemed simply unfathomable.
