Ayton isn’t remotely close to Okafor.
What about the changing of the game doesn’t fit Ayton? His best defensive skill is actually his ability to switch out onto guards and be fine. He’s not some back to the basket plodder. He can shoot, he’s mobile, he’s a surprisingly good passer.
His one on one post defense is fine for a rookie and he does a good job of avoiding fouls.
He’s got a long ways to go in the pick n roll as a defender, but he’s got every tool available to be good and fits the current league just fine.
