for women's basketball they also compete with the men's teams for fans in a way
that the women's soccer team and women's volleyball team do not have to.

The women's basketball season and men's basketball season almost completely overlap. Every time there would be a woman's home game, a men's away game is on TV the same night.

For women's soccer, BYU has no sponsored men's team to compete head-to-head (Men's team is just a club team)

For women's volleyball, the men's and women's NCAA volleyball seasons do not overlap.

Between the Jazz and college basketball and NBA basketball, there is just so much saturation in basketball entertainment to divert the attention of basketball fans away from BYU women's basketball.

Volleyball and soccer does not have that same level of competition. People are not otherwise following volleyball and soccer that much, so the BYU women's teams get a novelty bonus.
