Its not the recruits
It's their families. Filial piety is such an important principle within the polynesian culture. Families once were all BYU, maybe 30 years ago in the 80s. That started to change in the 90s and the trend has inevitably continued.
And now that big time players have done well outside of the Y, families are more accepting of the bigger name schools.
