Transfer
Emmanuel Eskupa- Rice Grad transfer. Big, about 230, has decent speed along with that. Was the feature back before injury.
Amir Rasul- Florida State transfer. Probably not a grad transfer. 5’11 with great speed (track star). Not a feature back but if he has good vision he could get some carries. If he doesn’t see the field well, he’s just Burt 2.0.
Offered
Alphonzo Andrews- 5’8 shifty guy with good speed. Has offers from Kentucky, Kansas, and Illinois. Not a ton of size and power, he is going to have to see the field well and make guys miss.
Thomas Grayson- 6’0 190. Has the body to be a feature back. Holds offers from Nebraska and Syracuse as well. Rated pretty highly, pretty athletic.
Darrin Smith- 5’8 180. Visited Provo in September I believe. Don’t know if we are still recruiting this guy. Rated well and holds offers from Colorado and the Fighting Kiffins of FAU.
RMs
Jackson McChesney- 5’11 180. Crazy speed, I think Bama talked to him a little. I think this guy could be the future if he ends up at 210-215 and keeps his speed. Doesn’t get home until June or July so he shouldn’t contribute much this season.
Others
Ula- big bruising back with good speed. A ton of upside if he can get back to BYU, in shape, and not fumble.
Amone Finau- 6’2 weighs about 240. Probably a power back or maybe a fullback. Would be useful for short yardage situations.
Overview- our future looks pretty thin. I think the bare minimum of what we can do is sign one of the guys we offered and get Eskupa. Otherwise we may have a serious struggle at the RB position for years to come.
