RE: Some issues from someone who attended BYU and another large school.
My experience was opposite... had numerous BYU professors teaching about their research and claiming they were the first to do said research. They were more concerned at pushing their research agenda whereas at my other university it was solely based on educating in the specific subject.

The one thing BYU had over my other school was cost, until I got school paid for via scholarship
