I'm sure there is much more to this part of the story

I have to believe B strongly suspected that Bob was gay and thats why he took that chance. I just don't see ANY straight man agreeing to such. But in retelling, had Bob felt threatened or coerced, he could have said so. Instead he just says "B asked and I agreed" so to speak.
