I’m going to bet most of who you are referring to are white males.
Medical schools admissions are heavily weighted toward the disadvantaged, minority, female. It just is.
Been awhile since I went to med school but my grades, scores, extras, etc. where on par with the average Harvard admit. Of course I didn’t have a snowballs chance in hades.
If you adjust for that, BYU acceptance rate to med school is otherwise quite good.
