All I think about is mtn biking. I ride 3-4 times per week.
Greatest thing since sliced bread.

What kind of riding are you wanting to do? If you want to race xc, then a light carbon frame is important.

IF you just ride for fun, then aluminum is fine. Carbon on a mountain bike is great, but this last year I cracked my frame. It cost me $1800 to replace just the frame! If the frame had been aluminum, my frame likely would have had just dented. It still would have been safe to ride. Would not have needed a replacement.

If you are riding just for fun, my advice would be to get a used, full suspension stumpjumper on ksl, Craigslist, or pinkbike. You can usually get a great deal on bikes that are a few years old. If you BM me, I’d be more than happy to help!
