...we had a group activity at Fat Cats for my work. I pulled in right next to the building, parked, and went in. Several others from my group did the same. What we didn't notice was there was a sign--obscured by another vehicle--that said that particular parking was only for the fast food place next door.
When I came out, my car was gone. They were in the process of towing another dude's car, and at first refused to release it, but he eventually talked them out of it (in that video, the women said they learned in court that legally the tow truck MUST release it if you come out while they're hooking it up. Is that true in Utah?).
Anyway, I went over to the tow place, and the gate to their lot was WIDE open. Nobody was around on the lot, just people in the office. There was my car. I was really tempted to just hop in my car and drive off. To this day, I wish I had. If I had successfully made it off the lot, what could they have done? Charged me with trespassing?
But, I went in and paid the extortion. It cost me $250.
