I've had all sorts of problems with owning my own modem. I have to call them
regularly to fix a problem where my Xfinity Streaming app says I am not on my in-home network WHEN I AM USING MY WIFI ( or even my wired internet). The problem is

1. Certain channels will only stream if you are on your in home network.

2. The Xfinity Roku App will only work if you are on the in home network.

I will call technical support and it takes a couple hours of getting bounced around before the problem is fixed. Then a couple weeks later and the same thing happens again. Rinse and repeat.

Plus, half the time the rep says "it looks like your modem is offline" which is funny since I'm using it while they are talking to me. Ultimately I think his all stems to the fact that I have an "unsupported" modem (which works fine BTW). I'm willing to bet money if I were to lease their modem I'd never have problems and this is really just because I own my own equipment.
