Appraisals ordered by a lender aren't for the consumer.
Sure, the consumer gets to see the appraisal, but it's not for the consumer. If a lender is going to lend on a home, they HAVE to have an appraisal. No if's, and's, or but's. They're not going to pay for it themselves and then end up maybe not making the loan. Same with most of the other closing costs.

Should the lender pay out of pocket fees for a consumer to be able to buy a home?
