Why do you believe it is stupid?
Humans evolved without the glut of simple carbs we now consume in outrageous portions. Obesity, diabetes, etc. are epidemic now because of it.
I’m not sure why reducing our consumption of sugar is stupid. The science is solid and not political in any way.
