but a few years ago when US Treasury was trying to get Sacajawea coins into circulation, you could order boxes of the coins and have them delivered to your house. You could also pay with credit card. Treasury figured that they could eat the CC fees and delivery fees and still come out ahead because of the effective life of coins relative to paper currency.
What they did not count on was credit card point chasers ordering $10,000 of coins a month, getting the points, and having them shipped to a safe deposit box at their bank where they would promptly trade in the $10,000 worth of coins in order to pay of that month's cc bill.
