The original post decried the clear monetary expense and potential liability that compounded an extremely tragic situation. Thinking about the content of that post, I replied what I thought would add depth of understanding for an outsider looking at the situation. Not only is there all of the emotional stress that is inherent in the significant injury of a person but it is compounded once by the family relationship and once again by potential monetary liability.
I find myself no less human then anyone else posting. I honestly feel that I expressed a truth that should increase empathy for both the parents and other families by providing a more complete explanation of the situation. Depending on his profession, bankruptcy may ruin the individual's entire career. This individual could be sitting in his home wondering not only if his niece will live and if his relationship with his family is ruined, but also about whether it will destroy his life, career, and ability to provide for his family.
I do not wish the young girl to die. Nor am I unaware of the clear emotional strain this situation causes all involved. I am simply stating a fact that must be realized in order to fully understand the situation and empathize to the greatest extent possible with all involved. Alright. Open fire.
