My effective federal tax rates: 2016 - 3.4%, 2017 - 7.7%, 2018 - 0.9%.
So mine went down a ton, but I also made less and contributed primarily to traditional retirement accounts rather than roth, and maxed out HSA. So lots of savings there. And $6k child tax credit.
