Karlsson was the VGK #1 offseason target in 2018. Too bad he was hurt all year with the Sharks. I agree he is still injured. Burns also is not 100% IMO. It could be that he and EK are exhausted from playing so many minutes, but I can tell Burns at least has an upper body injury — looks like his left arm. Karlsson isn't skating as well as he has at times this year and certainly not like last year. You can see VGK drive repeatedly the center of the defense like Theodore and Tuck did last night. Neither Burns nor EK can skate with VGK right now. And it isn't just last night, they were repeatedly beat to the net in game 3, with Karlsson helplessly trailing Stone to the net a couple of times. It has to be the groin that has slowed him all year. Karlsson is still going to be the #1 or close to it free agent this offseason, but unless he has a great story for why he won't have nagging injuries going forward, he will not get a max extension. But NHL teams love to overpay, so we will see.
