Wailea is much better. The Grand Wailea or the Marriott are nice.

The only drawback is you are pretty secluded. Most of the touristy things are closer to kaanapali area.

I'd concentrate on nature then and forego any of the town touristy stuff. Beaches, volcano, hana, state park, snorkling.

Oh yea and take Bonine for a few days beforehand. Don't be afraid to stop and go on walks off the road
