And struggle against P5 competition. Particularly run blocking against good defenses has been a mighty struggle, although granted it’s sometimes because teams haven’t respected byu’s Pass game and stacked the box. See Michigan, LSU, and any Utah game. Brutally bad. Slow footed and afraid.
There is one notable current player who had one of the worst games I’ve seen by an OL against Boise St last year. the sacks he gave up arguable cost us the game. Really bad, didn’t block anyone on at least three plays. And he’s one that’s frequently mentioned as the strength of our team. Like block someone and then I’ll be impressed.
Sure having experience is great but we don’t have any OL drafted for a reason. All this said, I think they are slowly getting better, from bad a few years ago to average now. I wouldn’t rank them as good until they show me a full game against a P5 opponent. Hopefully this year is the year.
