Leading questions deal with prompting a friendly witness to answer in a certain way because you're giving them the answer in the question. That's not really what this example is about.
All that said, it was a stupid retort. Your post referenced an actual event that no one really disputes, Max Hall shoplifting from Best Buy. The retort dealt with a much more offensive and significant allegation for which there is no factual support. It was bizarre, offensive, and entirely off-subject. It was confusing then and still confusing now.
