Only once we flipped a foreclosure house where the previous owner was a smoker
Tore everything down repainted now floors and cleaned the ducts. Got rid of most of the smell but still had a faint smell. Luckily we sold it to a smoker
Never done it in my personal home but after 25 years might be worth it.
