It's a little bit apples and oranges
Because marathons are completely different in terms of terrain, running surface, and weather conditions.

If you had a nice cool day without any wind, on a course that is slightly downhill on the road, you can run faster than on a track. Yesterday's conditions were slower than average. Even Young had run about a minute faster previously on a track.
