Obviously Emery was in the wrong, but he also owned up to it and sat out a year before the NCAA came sniffing around. The school cooperated completely with the probe and self-sanctioned, plus the NCAA found no program-wide compliance issues or any knowledge of the issues by any coaching or university staff. There was no need for the NCAA to accept Emery sitting out a year, accept the university reducing scholarships and booster access, and then still bring the hammer down by vacating wins.
The joke is on the NCAA though, we'd already been trying to forget those basketball seasons ever happened!
