The same can be said for your race. If you are both white guys, that too helped. It's obvious that common conflicts can erupt into violent situations when the involved parties notice significant differences between them and then focus on those differences as a source for the conflict itself when in reality the difference (race, BYU/UU, etc.) has nothing to do with it.
