policing is what keeps baseball from devolving into unwatchable showboating. You want to show up other players, be prepared to get hit. It's been this way for a 100 years. Nobody get's hit in the head, you get hit in the ribs or butt. It's fine. It's worked. Players abide by it. If they didn't like it, and abide by it they'd stop doing it. It keeps the game honest.
