I'll believe it when I see it
I'm not saying it's impossible, but there's a reason it's very rare and that no one has been successfully offer-sheeted in years. If anyone wants to offer sheet him at more than 10.5m per year over 5 or more years, be my guest. I'd take the cap space and the 4 first-round picks. At much less, the Leafs match (or, more likely, Marner doesn't even sign it). Close to but below 10.5m at 5 or fewer years, you need a team with a bunch of cap space willing to overpay for a player, give up a bunch of draft picks (2 firsts, a second and a third, I think?) and only be getting 1 year of unrestricted free agency (if you sign him for 5 yrs) from Marner. I'd imagine any team that thinks they are one Marner away from competing doesn't have that much cap space or has already traded away some of those picks in assembling their current team. Maybe Colorado?

It's possible, as it only takes 1 GM to think it's worth it, but I think it's unlikely. Marner's agent and father both have a reputation and the camp does seem determined to get past July 1 and hear from other teams, though, so if it's going to happen for any of the current crop of big-name RFAs, I guess it makes sense that it'd be Marner.
