If UCF lost that game the MWC champ would have gone to the NY6.

Both Boise St (at 10-2) and Fresno St (also at 10-2) were ranked in the CFP top 25 and Memphis (at 8-4) was not. So that winner almost certainly would not have been passed by Memphis.



In the AP others receiving votes you had Utah State, Cincinnati, Appalachian State and Buffalo with votes but no Memphis.

In the Coaches others receiving votes you had Cincinnati, Appalachian State then Memphis, UAB, Buffalo and Georgia Southern.

Army was also ranked higher than Memphis as they were in both the AP/Coaches top 25 (but they do not qualify for the highest ranked Go5 champ slot in NY6).

Even with the loss Boise didn't drop out of any of the Top 25 rankings (AP/Coaches/CFP).
