Because they are in a conference, they wouldn't be hurt by playing those teams.

Everyone acknowledges that you need to beat who you play. Because BYU is Indy, they are hurt more by playing against weaker teams than if they are in a conference and have to play some weaker teams. Especially if they continue to have a strong OOC schedule.
