Hawaii has an interesting schedule, similar to BYU's on a lesser level
Hawaii looks to have a tough start with an easier back half to try and get bowl eligible. They have 13 games to try and get to 6 wins, including eight home games.

The Warriors start with 3 PAC 12 games - Arizona & Oregon St at home and then at Washington. They also play Central Arkansas (FCS) and end the season with Army at home. Hawaii's success against Arizona, Oregon St, and Army will likely play a huge factor in their ability to go bowling. If they don't beat the Wildcats or Beavers, they will likely be looking at a 1-5 or 2-4 start which would be tough to overcome.

Tough MWC games for the Warriors appear to be at Boise as well as home games against Fresno & SDSU.

Without improvement from last year (and they lost their star QB), I would expect Hawaii to lose to Arizona, Washington, Boise, Fresno, and SDSU (5 losses) with Oregon State & Army being tough games as well. I've got no idea how the rest of their MWC games will turn out but it doesn't seem like they will have a lot of wiggle room to get bowl eligible without an upset or two.
