I use it to get into cars that other companies don't provide and have rented porsche boxster S, and audis. Looking at getting a 356 speedster in Tahoe for my next one. All of the cautions apply - privately rented; problems can put you in a bind without corporate backing for remedy; risk of nit-picky owners who will try to ping you for prior damage; mileage limits. Due diligence is the best you can do and even that doesn't mitigate the risk entirely.
For value, though, rent your car through Costco. Prices don't get better.
