I'm open to that argument, though I'm skeptical of the idea that reusable
grocery bags are worse when you take into account that they can be used hundreds of times vs the single-time use of a plastic bag. As for paper, it certainly seems like there is good evidence that it may be, if not definitely is worse to make. But maybe I'm wrong about reusable bags, it's happened plenty before.

However, I really doubt that was the reasoning behind the guy I replied to.
