I also must drive a much nicer car... so there is no point in your argument.
I have 5 cars. Do I need 5 cars... No.

2016 Audi A4 (paid for)
2015 Hyundai Elantra (loan)
2010 Honda CRV (loan)
2003 Landrover Discovery II (paid for)
* Does my wife need to drive a new 'family car' all the time, no. But we both have good jobs, why not have a nice car? The car we just got also has paddle shifters. Does a big heavy 7 seat SUV need paddle shifters? No... but it sure is fun with the super/turbo chargers.
* Do I need to pay for my college-age kid's cars? No. But it's nice that I can give them reliable cars while they are away at school.
* My high school-aged kid doesn't need an unreliable 16-year-old SUV. But we sure have a blast fixing it up and taking it off-roading. We spend a good chunk of change keeping the thing nice... and we enjoy doing it.
* I'm going to buy myself an Audi S5 Sportback in the next few months. Do I need to? No.. do I want to? yes.
