Update. Farmers Insurance, the homeowner's insurance company for the parents of the kid who hit my van, wants to give me $1200 for the repairs. The body collision shop's quote is $1800 for the repairs. Farmers tells me that if the collision shop really needs an additional $600 for the repairs, Farmers will pay that amount, but having dealt with Farmers so far, I feel like Farmers will do everything in its power to not pay a penny more - which means I may be stuck paying $600 for repairs on my minivan for damage that was caused by a distracted 16 year old in a golf cart.
The repairs will take 5 days. Farmers will be providing me a rental car for that time.
BTW, Farmers did everything they could to NOT pay the claim, including asking me if I could get them the HOA policy for their customer, hoping that somewhere in the HOA rules it would say that homeowners aren't allowed to own golf carts.
