I think you, Monkeycowboy, and a few others mentioned that I needed more protein and sleep. I realized I was lacking in those areas. Then I tried your pyramid approach:
Week 1 155 3x10
Week 2 165 3x8
Week 3 175 4x6
Week 4 185 5x4
I was able to do that so I went up 10 lbs on each and repeated. So it took two months, but hey I'm happy! I couldn't quite get five sets of 195 as I mentioned in the original post. So I'm starting over at 165 (3X10) and seeing if in a few weeks I can get all five sets. Then I'll add 10 lbs and start over. 205 would be big for me--I've always wanted to cross that 200 mark.
The build up approach that you suggested seems to work for me. Helps me get my form under control and build up my base a bit I guess. Previously I would just keep doing sets of 185 over and over, but I could never get 6 so I was stuck.
