Opponents and winning the PAC12 championship game sends them to the Rose Bowl. If Utah were to go undefeated they could end up in the NCAA Championship game. Even though it is nice for them to beat BYU and they will set a new record with the longest winning streak in the series with BYU. It does very little for BYU and they don't even talk about the game on campus or during class now. 

So queue now how much more this game means to BYU and their fans and not Utah's. It was so important to a BYU fan that  

The legislature will audit University of Utah athletics in wake of BYU rivalry suspension

A four-member panel approved the new report without discussion in the final moments of the Feb. 1 public Legislative Audit Subcommittee meeting — less than a month after Utah shelved the state's signature rivalry.

Still, sports series deserve scrutiny, said House Speaker Greg Hughes, because they bind communities and represent Utah on a national stage. The U.'s decision to upend a century of tradition illuminates a series "of decisions over time that make you wonder. It's a cumulative effect," said the Draper Republican, an alumnus, and fan of the Provo private school.

Thank Greg Hughes for the current win streak because Utah would have stopped playing BYU a decade ago or used it as most P5 schools use it to benefit them. Talk now among Utah Alumni and donors they will offer a 1 and done with BYU and USU at RES every other year so they can renew the rivalry with USU. With Greg Hughes gone and not pushing for an audit on Utah anymore they fill like they don't have to schedule BYU anymore.
