The part that amazes me about this (apparently increasingly prevalent phenomenon) is that I'd never been taught how to do it before. First time I ever got a flat, I just assumed it couldn't be that hard, found the jack, iron and spare in the trunk, and changed the freaking tire. I CAN'T be that much more capable than my brother or any other kid, can I?
Is it ingrained or environmental that the default assumption for some people is that they just CAN'T do something, rather than assuming it can't be that hard to figure out?
