the two days in Utah County jail this summer were for a new offense. If that's the case - absolutely, not a great idea to be named as a team leader (again, assuming there isn't some mitigating context).
But if those two days were for the original infraction two years ago, then I don't think that same logic necessarily holds up. Would just depend why the jail time occurred two years after the offense. If it's just a technicality and the guy has changed, improved, and moved on, then I don't think it's relevant at all to his current character and being named a captain.
If it's because he's been trying to dodge the consequences of his actions all the way up to this last summer and it finally caught up to him, then I'd absolutely agree with you that I wouldn't think he should be a named leader on his team. Just depends, at least to me.
