I thought BYU had success scheming some misdirection in the run game and with Zach using his legs. Most of the big plays came from shots down the field to tight ends, I thought the WR were mostly ineffective.
I thought Utah came out unfocused and got hit in the mouth and it was 21-0 before they knew what was going on. BYU did a great job limiting big plays on defense.
In the second half the pick 6 was a big turning point. Like I said earlier Utah’s DL made a big impact down the stretch forcing throw aways, making sacks and TFL, getting off the field. Utah finally executed as an offense, had success running at the edges with TJ Green and scored 28 points in the second half.
So my big factors for BYU were Zach using his legs, connecting on a couple big time throws and taking advantage of mistakes by Utah.
For Utah I would say the DL getting pressure on the QB, eliminating the WR’s, making scheme adjustments on offense and executing down the stretch.
