So - the premise of your first initial post seemed to be that you thought Simon was saying that he looked at the clock and purposefully gave himself up so that BYU would have time for a FG.

In listening to Simon, that isn't what he's says at all. It sounds like he wanted to get to the endzone, knew he wasn't going to make it, but then also peeked up at the clock and knew that there was still time on the clock - enough time for a FG try.
