Count me among those who did not love Bronco's thin skin as BYU's HC; however,
I have really loved following him at Virginia. It is wonderful seeing him succeed along with his BYU coaching staff. That will do nothing but bring about good things not only for Virginia but eventually for BYU as some of these coaches make their way back home. Plus, I think Bronco is a great example of someone who strives to be good, holding himself to a high standard of excellence. I suspect that he and his staff, along with their families, have been a powerful example of good gospel living in Virginia and are responsible for more than a few to investigate the Church. Regardless, the steady progression from ACC bottom feeder to the Top 25 has been fun to watch. I am probably more of a Bronco fan now than I was when he was at BYU. He has left BYU and is getting it done at another university - doing it his way and having great success. How can I not love that?

My issue with Bronco while at BYU had a lot to do with his poor PR skills and the way he dealt with BYU fans, media, etc. I never doubted his love for the game, his tenacity, his desire to win. His move to Virginia was so great for him. I certainly think BYU would have been better off to keep him in retrospect (assuming there was such an option - which I doubt, considering what Virginia put on the table), but I think Bronco and his staff are far better off professionally for having moved to Virginia. I also think the Virginia community is better off having them there.
