Kalani's best season would have been an utterly average one for Bronco.
No one hates Kalani, he is a genuinely good dude. But thus far he has been an objective and significant downgrade from Bronco with regards to the win-loss column, the only thing that ultimately matters.
Bronco is also a good dude, albeit more introverted. Regardless it is easy to cheer for him in a field with so much corruption, cheating, and scandal. And any real BYU fan would recognize that many future coaching candidates are going to come from Bronco's staff, so it is in the best interest of BYU fans to root for their collective success and growth as well. Guys like Kelley Poppinga and Garrett Tujague, Jason Beck and Mark Atuaia, even Vic So'oto. BYU very likely will want to hire some of them sometime down the road, so the better coaches they become now the better.
