1-3. Slovis is extremely talented, but no one is perfect all the time. We prepared for him, he got his plays, and we helped cause and take advantage of his mistakes.
4. USC had some success running the ball, but we also had some success slowing and stopping the run. They weren't going to beat us on the ground.
5. Trap game? Maybe. Tough schedule ahead for the Trojans? Definitely.
6. Our guys are competitors. Their confidence is growing. You can see it on the field. You hear it in their interviews. We can compete. Following the disappointment of Game 1, I'm more hopeful for the rest of the season than I have been in a long time.
7. We know Wilson is the real deal. It wasn't a perfect game, but he showed us why we are excited about him and he was a huge part of the win.
8. We don't win that game without Ty'Son. He's a beast and we're fortunate to have him.
9. Bushman. Interestingly, my biggest miss as he had a relatively quiet game. However, his one reception was a huge play, and he kept defenders on him all game, helping others be open. He also helped MLP get out of bounds one time when the Trojans stood him up and tried to strip the ball, and IMO showed his huge value to the team.
10. Tonga. 4 tackles, 2 deflections, 1 sack. Tonga clearly disrupted the USC line and affected Slovis. He's bigger than prototypical NFL DT, and all monster (aka "Search & Destroy Gorilla").
11. I smoked a pork shoulder for 18 1/2 hours, plus 2 racks of ribs. With plenty of sides, the party was going to be good no matter what. Then I learned that my EQP watches BYU football like I do- jumping up and down, hopping in circles, and pacing the floor. All around, a great afternoon!
Go Cougs.
