In this case they can use him in other ways and still take time to develop him.
I'm sure they love Taysom's work ethic and competitiveness. Plus they are rolling with a 40 year old QB right now. Perhaps that means they think Taysom can be around another 5-7 years.

No reason to think Taysom couldn't play for another decade @ QB. Obviously he won't by taking those shots NFL type hits
