Depends if they are single, have kids, and what their work schedule is
When I was in a singles ward I would stop by one of my friend’s house to do home teaching at 11:30 pm, without an appointment because he would be up and he was the only one home.
Nowadays I text or call after 8:00 to see if it’s too late.
